Guestbook

We came on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the village. The accommodation was very cosy, comfy and homely. We enjoyed catching up with our friends (a long overdue visit) and absorbed the local going-ons. A vibrant village community, very friendly even to the grockels. Blickling Hall was amazing, well worth another visit to explore the full estate on a warmer day. We did a very enjoyable 10 mile circular walk taking in Erpinham (comfort break at The Spread Eagle) tried to follow the wonderers way but found a helipad had reclaimed the route (gr!) On to Hanworth and back to Aldborough in beautiful rolling countryside. The Cricketers served us a delicious and very filling meal. Hopping on to The Poppy Line gave us an opportunity to visit and explore Holt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Linda & Paul,

Had a lovely stay at Whistle Stop. Very cosy, comfortable and homely. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at the pub and also the friendliness of the villagers, particularly in the shop. Aldborough is the perfect location to enjoy the beautiful Norfolk countryside and coast. Our dogs first time on a beach and their (and our) favourite was Holkham. Thank you Wendy and family for sharing your lovely cottage.

The Harris family,

What a lovely stay we have had! The beds & sofas are super duper comfy, perfect for relaxing! The cottage is really well equipped and there was plenty of room and seating for 6. The village is gorgeous and well located and everyone was really friendly. We would love to come back!

Team Chilts,

Second stay here! Lovely cottage, thank you for the welcome pack. Very friendly locals and pub, shop good too. Holt is a must visit. Explored the easterly coast. Great sandy beaches for the dogs at Overstrand, Walcott and Winterton. Recommended for another stay.

Peter & family,

Laura & Paul,

We have loved our stay at Whistle Stop! It is such a homely holiday cottage, a great place to come back to after a day our having fun! The village is lovely with great walks for the dog in the morning and evening. We have visited Cromer, Sheringham and Overstrand, Sea Palling and Horsey Gap (where we saw the seals). We are so sad to leave!

Kath & Family,

Just spent a week at Whistlestop, wish it had been longer. Cottage is beautiful, fabulously equipped and everything worked well. We loved Whistlestop, Aldborough, the pub ( very friendly, decent beer and good food ) and Norfolk. Great base for exploring surrounding towns and walking with the dogs. Already checking dates for a return.

Ian Taylor,

We use Air B & B a lot and this was one of the best houses we have ever stayed in. The house was clean, homely and not over-cluttered. Comfortable beds and everything you need in the kitchen.

Communication from the owners was pitched at just the right level and we would recommend the place very highly to any one thinking of going there.

Great local pub and a friendly village to base yourself for a week or so.

L M,

A lovely cottage beautifully decorated throughout. In a good position close to Cromer. We have just returned from a mini break and even in mid February it was lovely. Wendy the owner is great, very helpful and friendly and happy to help with any questions etc.

Lisa Nichols,

What a find! Huge thanks to Wendy & Darren for creating and sharing such a beautiful home from home. I needed a quiet break with one of my dogs and this fit the bill perfectly. Everything we might need had been provided.h
Plenty to do within a short drive, we've been to beaches, Blickling Hall and visited local towns. The Black Boy pub across the green is a lovely place to sit and chat with friendly locals (Max very much appreciated the dog treats on offer), and the food is delicious - I highly recommend the Sunday roast!
Will definitely return - interior decoration is lovely and cosy, perfect for quiet nights in. Very comfortable bed and everything is clean. Thanks again!

Bridgette,

Thank you Wendy & Darren for a lovely week in your cottage. It truly is a little gem, Aldborough is a fantastic village with everything you could want. It was great for us to have more opportunity to see our daughter and grandson, who lives in the next village, sharing valuable time together. Hope to be back very soon. P.S. love the cushions and the seaside theme!

Barbara & Robert,

Great week in a fabulous cottage! Locals extremely friendly and the pub cosy & welcoming.

Mr I Greenhalgh,

This has to be one of the most impressive cottages and value for money Ive stayed in. We have a long tradition of staying in dog friendly cottages around the country as this is one that ticks all the boxes. The location on the village green just makes it the perfect getaway from it all peaceful holiday home. The locals are extremely friendly and walking our two Airedales on the local beaches and few beers in the local pub coupled with the added colours of autumn made for a special week Oct 22

Ian G,

Thank you for a lovely time at Whistle stop! As soon as we arrived at the cottage it was very warm & cosy. The Black Boys pub over the green was very friendly and welcoming with a great atmosphere. A short drive to Cromer beach where the dogs had loads of fun! Thank you for having us, looking forward to coming back.

Karen, Matt, Levi, Kim and Baby Vin,

Dear Whistle Stop, great location for Cromer, Sheringham Park and Wells Next to Sea. Fantastic dog walking and peace & quiet. Villagers really friendly. Thank you so much for the well needed beak!

Jane & Dean, Toby & Macy,

Many thanks for a very comfortable week. We enjoyed walking our dogs around the green at the beginning and end of each day and finding other places for them in-between. We'd recommend Holt country Park, particularly. The pub and the shop and the other dog walkers too were all very friendly and helpful. We recommend fish & chips at the pub on a Friday night for a last night easy catering option! All round a very enjoyable week!

Mark & Tina,

A beautiful village and a lovely cottage. We have had a great week and couldn't have asked for more! The cottage had everything that we needed and thank you for the goodies upon arrival. We have had a memorable week and we'd definitely come back. Many thanks.

Mrs Cooper,

Lovely cottage! Excellent holiday. Thanks so much!

Mr Lockwood,

We've had a lovely family holiday here, perfectly situated both for kayaking and the beach! The lovely cottage had all we needed. Thank you for the extra little goodies you left for us.

The Foulertons,

A great few days away in this exceptional cottage. Everything you need and more. We will definitely be recommending the cottage to friends and family. Thank you!

S Law,

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful village. Would visit again. Lots of stuff for the kids in the area and Darren & Wendy went the extra mile to provide a cot, mattress and bed bumper for the little ones which was very much appreciated!

Annie,

Lovely cottage and lovely village, very peaceful. Enjoyed breakfast on the deck (primarily with the friendly Blackbird!)
Thank you for the welcomes goodies!

Simon,

Had a great stay, cottage lovely. South facing garden great for enjoying the sun. Well equipped and very comfortable stay and we've done lots in this area. Sadly the pub not open for meals but did watch the cricket on the green - very entertaining.
The birds in the garden almost tame, great just to sit and see them all doing their thing, With thanks Geoff

Geoff, Claire & Ralph the dog,

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was lovely and well equipped. Very nice village, enjoyed the food in the pub and took part in the beacon lighting for the jubilee. Had some good days out on the Broads, the poppy line and seal watching at Blakeney point. Very relaxing break and would love to come back! Sorry to be leaving and thanks for providing such a great place.

Simon,

What can we say about this beautiful cottage. It was everything we wanted and more. It is located in the beautiful Norfolk countryside with plenty of local walks from the cottage to keep the four legged family members happy. It’s also a great hub if you don’t mind driving to explore all areas of the Norfolk Coastline and National Trust parks. We enjoyed trips to Old Hunstanton, Cromer, Sheringham Park and Horsey wind pump to name a few, all of which were dog friendly all year round.

The cottage itself had all the amenities you could possibly want for a short stay and the personal touches such as the home biscuits and wine really made you feel welcome. It felt very much like home from home, especially with the enclosed garden . The local pub and shop where a bonus also.

We look forward to coming to stay again and would recommend to all that you book if you can. Thank you for our the best holiday of the year. You’ve set the bar high.

Lucy,

We enjoyed our stay in you beautiful, well equipped cottage and will definately be back. Had some lovely meals in the dog-friendly Black Boys pub and enjoyed the early morning dog walks round the green. Recommend Wells by the Sea, Burnham Market & Holt for dog friendly days out. We had a great time! Aldborough is a fab location. We will look to book a similar week again next year!

Mark,

I found this gem on Marketplace on Facebook. it's such a beautiful house, well presented and everything you need for a break away.
Wendy answered any queries straight away .
Great location with a lovely green for the children to play football . very handy village shop within walking distance.
Approx 15 min drive to the seaside.
we will definitely be back again .
Thank you for the memories.

Rebecca,

Wonderful cottage overlooking the village green. Was a relaxing holiday made perfect by the quality of the accommodation. Host was fantastic and really attentive.

C L,

A beautiful country cottage in a quaint lovely village set around a green. Great to have the local shop for supplies and playground both within walking distance from the cottage. Beds and bedding were very comfortable and heating was very easy to use. It was lovely to have some condiments such as olive oil, spices and salt and pepper already supplied. Comfy sofas and nice garden that was secure for the dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend for families.

Phoebe,

We spent 7 lovely days with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandchildren over the Christmas period. The cottage was lovely decorated with a full size tree for Santa to leave presents!
We fond the cottage to be cosy, clean and fully equipped. The shop over the road is well stocked and we had a lovely take away from the Black Boy Pub.
The locals were very friendly too!
We would thoroughly recommend this cottage for a super restful break. Thank you!

Mr & Mrs Smithson,

Like the previous guests we too have had a wonderful week. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. So much attention to detail it really made our trip to Norfolk extra special, thank you!
We visited Holkham Beach, the grounds of Holkham, Sheringham Park and Felbrigg Hall. We also went to Hillside Animal sanctuary - a worthwhile visit for any animal lover. Thank you again!

The Bowles Family,

"We had a fabulous week in this beautiful cottage! Thoughtfully decorated and furnished with lots of little extras which helped make our stay just perfect! Warm and cosy with good quality beds and bedding all made for a super relaxing stay. We all slept VERY well. Aldborough itself is peaceful yet well appointed with a nice pub, a post office and village shop. Plenty of great walks and an ideal location from which to explore the many delights which Norfolk offers. Highly recommended :) 5 stars
